UNA-Canada’s Clean Talk team invites you all to become Sanitation Heroes! What is a Sanitation Hero? It is someone who:
1. Understands the urgency of the fact that 2.5 billion people in the world lack access to a toilet and 1.1 billion people in the lack access to clean drinking water
2. Takes the opportunity to use spaces such as community centres, café’s, volunteer centres, and schools to hold an event to raise awareness about sanitation
3. Is willing to continue to learn about the issues surrounding sanitation and use leadership skills to spread the word on Sanitation for All!
Here are just SOME of the many things you can do to become a Sanitation Hero:
1. Get together with a group of classmates or friends and draw a mural with pictures about the global sanitation crisis and how we can solve it
2. Become a Sanitation Singer and record a song about sanitation as a human right
3. Research issues about sanitation and do a school project on what daily steps we can all take to improve sanitation (for example hand-washing, cooking food properly, etc).
4. Write a letter to your MP about why you feel the Canadian government should take action on making sanitation a human right for all
